CASE STUDY

The Contexticon

A web-based app that helps bridge concept and context to facilitate a deeper understanding of the world’s oldest texts.

Here’s how we approached it.

Screen space efficiency was a key priority — ensuring the maximum amount of related content is visible at any time without sacrificing academic-level clarity.

We took advantage of fullscreen views, larger resolutions, and configurable window sets. The Contexticon stands alone in the world of biblical study apps.

A subscription-based app available to scholars, professors, students, theologians, ministers, and anyone interested in exploring biblical texts within the context of the ancient world.

The STORY

The World’s Most Famous Book — in Context

The goal of the Contexticon is to help users better understand biblical verses by understanding the context in which they were written. What were things like politically? What was the dominant language? What did key words mean at the time of writing? The Contexticon helps readers apply these insights to discover new and deeper meanings within the Bible itself — erasing the barrier created by time.

Bridging Time and Understanding

The Contexticon is not just another Bible app. It’s a research-grade tool that layers historical, linguistic, and political context onto every verse — giving scholars and casual readers alike a window into the ancient world that produced these texts.

Built as a subscription-based web application, it needed to feel accessible to first-time users while offering the depth that academics and theologians demand. We designed configurable window sets, fullscreen views, and efficient information density so users could study without compromise.
